This is the worst coffee maker design. The top is made of metal which gets really hot and you find this out when you are fighting to remove the carafe from its overly tight fit. The coffee splashes over the top when you finally complete your struggle to replace the carafe due to the tight squeeze. Finally the carafe lid broke off during one of these trials and the seal came loose.
